Into Asia!

Womble and Kon-Tiki left the Istanbul camp site on the 27th of April 2002 to visit friends in Istanbul and spent the night in a lay-by on the Asian side of the Bosphorus. The other three vans left on the morning of the 28th of April.

All five vans converged on the small town of Safranbolu, a UNESCO World Heritage site that was recommended by Clive and Ann who had visited it a few years earlier (before it had become so well known).

The town is noted for its Ottoman houses some of which are now converted in to museums.

As on Clive and Ann's earlier visit we camped in the school yard, this time however there was a charge.

Kon-Tiki may still have a fuel leak, K-Nine's rear door stuck closed and Mog has an oil leak

On the 28th of April the group split up with Bigfoot and Mog heading for the spectacular Sumela monastery south of Trabzon.

The group plan to meet up again before the Armenian border on the 3rd of May 2002.
